The first Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store was established on Nan King West Road, on October 1991. More then a decade later, we discovered that the Nan King West Road neighborhood had rapidly transformed into a mature commercial district. In year 2000, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi had built its first mega store in Taichung. This mega store not only brought in significant amount of commercial traffic to the neighborhood but had also set the record sales figure exceeding 10 billion N.T. per year after its third year of operation. Shin Kong Mitsukoshi had made its mark in the Taichung retail market and proven that big stores can bring success. In June 2002, we opened our second Tainan store, the “Tainan Ximen”. This store is also the largest Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store today, with a total floor space of 2,556,000 sq. feet. With an impressive collection of luxury merchandise and beautiful infrastructure, the “Tainan Ximen” has brought a brand new shopping experience to the southern of Taiwan.
The “Xinyi Place” is another proud accomplishment of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi. From 1997 on, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi gradually finishes its goal in building the most cosmopolitan and complete shopping paradise for the Taiwanese shoppers. Not only is this project built on the most expansive real estate in Taipei, it is a department store comprised of four different buildings. Since the opening of A11, A8, A9, and A4, the Hsinyi District had gone from farmland to an extremely valuable commercial district crowded by international cooperation headquarters. This project has again, much like the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taichung Store, proven our ability to generate commercial traffic and enrich our surrounding neighborhood.

Periodically various art events and cultural festivities have taken place in all he Shin Kong Mitsukoshi will continue to improve the quality of its stores.
